CSA: Community Supported Agriculture

FAQ

What is a CSA?

CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture, a subscription program where the community supports a local farmer in exchange for a weekly share of the harvest. As a CSA Shareholder, you are buying into the farm...you assume some of the risk, and reap all the rewards! Shares feed between 2-4 people, depending on the size, and contain a week’s supply of fresh-picked seasonal produce at the peak of quality.

What am I supporting by purchasing a Soil Steward’s CSA share?
Valuable education and research opportunities in sustainable agriculture and food systems at the University of Idaho.

Tell me more about the farm…
The Soil Stewards farm occupies 3 acres of land at the Parker Research Farm which is certified organic by the State of Idaho.  Student farmers work to conserve natural resources and produce the best quality vegetables, herbs and flowers sustainably, and without the use of pesticides or herbicides.

We have shares available!!!  Get ‘em quick while they last!!

Please email Ashley at soilstewards.csa@gmail.com to get on the list.  The brochure below has all the details you need pertaining to our CSA program.

Details of the when and where pick-up will be this year are still to be determined… Stay tuned.

In addition to fresh, locally grown produce, each week your bag will contain a comment card, with some questions and room for you to write your comments, praises, complaints and/or suggestions. We hope this will help us to keep you happy throughout the season. Please let us know what you did and didn't like, or give us ideas for improving your shares and the pick-ups.

We can very easily be reached at this email address, or by calling 885-9245. Don't hesitate to approach us with any questions, concerns or suggestions.

Looking forward to meeting you all!
