Herstory of Iota Psi Phi,
Inc
Iota Psi Phi Sorority, Inc. was founded by six aspiring young
women who all shared a desire for truly diverse sisterhood, free of color
lines and stereotypes.
At the time of inception on October 9, 1995, it was felt that
these needs were not met at California State University, Fresno. With
this, these women took the first steps in creating a dream: Iota Psi
Phi. Though adversity was met at every level of development and from
all corners of the community, the sisters of Iota have succeeded in passing
on this legacy, keeping the dream of diversity very much alive.
In Fall of 2000, the Beta Chapter of Iota Psi Phi, Inc. was
established at the University of Idaho by Melissa Holbrook, Brandy Peery,
Karee Russel, Bonnie Young and Alohalani Santiago. Today, the Beta
Chapter has over twenty members and is looking for future sisters who will
bring a different perspective and aspect to Iota Psi Phi, Inc.
Concepts
Iota Psi Phi, Inc. was founded on the three concepts of
Diversity, Integrity, and Education. These concepts are the foundation
of the organization and represent the beliefs of the sisters.
